"It's going to break my heart if my home state of Ohio votes for George Bush one more time" says Stephanie, Canvass Director for the GCI-Working America campaign in the battleground Columbus, Ohio office.
Stephanie hopped on a bus from Maryland where she was an English professor to join Grassroots Campaigns. Coming to the campaign with a PhD in English and Peace Corps (Micronesia) experience, Stephanie started as a canvasser in Columbus and was quickly promoted to Field Manager then Canvass Director.
In the Columbus office, surrounded by walls covered with literally hundreds of newspaper clippings related to this year's critical election and labor in the news, GCI canvassers work hard to identify target communities of swing voters who are frustrated with the Bush administration's attacks on overtime pay, the economy, and America's working families.
