»Derek Cavanaugh drives in the motorcade to the first Presidential debate in Miami

Derek Jake Cavanaugh came to GCI following a year-long stint volunteering in the Miami John Kerry finance office. After canvassing out of the Miami GCI office since June, Derek was recently made Assistant Director.

Derek got up close and personal to Senator Kerry and family as they arrived in Miami for the first Presidential debate, driving three cars back in the motorcade.

Derek also escorted Teresa Heinz Kerry to her meeting with south Florida’s Haitian community. He said, “It was a great experience to see her in action. Teresa was forthright and compassionate, and reflected a genuine concern for the situation in Haiti.”
